July parses Empty

So, here are the parses for July. These give a fairly decent representation of how well you perform as a DD in dynamis. The rate at which mobs are killed is directly proportional to the number of mobs that a group is able to kill in a given amount of time and therefore is directly proportional to how many drops we can get. This is merely a tool to help better yourself as a DD, do not use it to gloat to others and do not feel bad if your percentage is low. (Note: Only damage% from other DD jobs is significant when comparing yourself to your peers).

Some advice I have to give to increase your performance, developed over 3 years of dynamis:
  • The most obvious way to improve yourself is through gear, however you do not need the greatest gear in Vana'diel to be an effective DD. It's all in how you gear. Generally you should shoot for ~85% Accuracy, and then from there focus on Attack and/or Haste to increase your melee damage. As far as weaponskills go, it varies from job to job and WS to WS how to gear for it, so do some research as applicable to increase Skill damage. I encourage experimentation with gearsets to determine what will work for you. Generally, if it is good effective in an average merit party, it will be effective in dynamis, although typically more Accuracy is necessary in Xarcabard.

  • The other side of this coin is selection of food. There are some excellent food choices that do not cost very much that would be very effective to use in dynamis. Typically, if you can get 85% accuracy without food, then a meat dish such as Coeurl Subs are the way to go, otherwise a food that increases accuracy such as Squid Sushi is recommended. Food selection typically follows gear selection, and experimentation is highly encouraged. Sometimes 3-hour foods may be worth it, however beware as this can be quite costly, especially if you die early.

  • The most effective way to increase your damage in dynamis is to show up on time, stay the entire run, maintain focus throughout the entire run. Obviously, if you are AFK or are not present the entire run your results will be skewed, as you are not doing damage if you are not attacking after all. Additionally, being prepared to switch targets quickly will mean you will be attacking mobs for a longer amount of time, therefore increased damage. This also goes along with staying alive. Unleashing a large weaponskill on a Monk at full health might bring your % up a little, however once it hundred fists, you will drop quite rapidly. Sometimes it can't be helped, but waiting for weakness to wear off will skew your results. Also, losing alot of HP means that your support will have to use more MP healing you, rather than casting spells such as Haste that can help you do more damage.

  • The use of abilities go into damage calculations as well. Typically you should use your offensive building as often that they are up (these include Sneak Attack, Trick Attack, Jump, High Jump, Sekkanoki, and anything else that will do damage or will allow you or others to do more damage). This also includes weaponskills. Once of the best ways to increase damage is to use weaponskills every time you breach 100TP (unless the mob has 2%HP, since then multihit weaponskills will not do all the hits). This goes back into focus as well, if a mob has used Invincible or Perfect Dodge, you will not be able to damage it, so don't bother unloading until the effect wears off (Note: ranged attacks will attack through PD).

  • The final bit of advice I have to get is for the support role jobs. Giving the melee beneficial buffs such as Haste, while removing detrimental effects quickly such as Slow, Paralyze, and Sleep, can easily increase that DD's individual effectiveness by at least 15%. Ensuring that all the melee jobs are well supported means that the overall killing rate of the linkshell will increase, therefore it is more likely to fully clear a zone and get more drops. If MP or resources is in a crunch, it is generally suggested to ensure that your best DD's receive the most amount of support, since this will yield the greatest overall increase in effectiveness. If possible, it is recommended that melee parties are given a bard, as Minuet/Madrigal/Songs to 3-4 DD's is more effective than giving a party of BLM group ballad (a COR is best for this function due to added bonus of Wizard's Roll, or a talented RDM that can maintain focus and refresh cycle for 5 people).

Here's the parses for Dynamis-Bastok. As i said before, this is merely a tool to help you improve yourself, it does not necessarily need to be a competition. The most important columns to look at is Melee Accuracy, average Skill damage, and average melee damage.

07JUL2009 Dynamis-Bastok: In two parts because alot of mobs somehow got on the list. Also only shows the first half of the run since I had to leave early to get some sleep.
